ArthurAnimation’s Benjamin Arthur Wins Daytime Emmy® for Outstanding Main Title and Graphic Design in Netflix’s Hack Your Health
A rare Emmy win for hybrid animation underscores Sacramento studio’s innovation — bridging craft, technology, and communication across global storytelling industries.
ArthurAnimation, LLC proudly announces that its founder and Creative Director, Benjamin Arthur, has been honored with a Daytime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Main Title and Graphic Design for his work on the Netflix documentary Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut, produced by Tremolo Productions and Spillt.
The award was presented at the 52nd Daytime Emmy Awards at the Pasadena Convention Center, Friday, October 17, 2025.
A Rare Recognition for Hybrid Animation
Hack Your Health features 142 distinct animation sequences totaling nearly ten minutes—an ambitious, multi-format collage that demanded the orchestration of complex techniques and teams across continents. The result blends handcrafted stop-motion, 2D animation, and CGI to create a cohesive narrative language that helps viewers navigate a highly technical subject with clarity and delight.
Two stop-motion teams brought the project’s wool work to life: Animation Director Laura Venditti led the wool mice sequences—shot entirely in-camera as stand-alone set pieces—while Pénélope De Bozzi, Matthieu Lemarié, and Constance Robin crafted the wool microbiome animations.
Arthur served as the sole 2D animator and VFX director, creating the film’s multi-media digital collage.
“Every frame serves a function” said Benjamin Arthur, “helping audiences understand something that’s invisible, microscopic, or abstract. I’m grateful to have been able to work with such interesting and talented animators from around the world. New compositing pipelines that let tactile, wool-based characters live convincingly inside digital environments needed to be built. It was fun. It’s design and engineering in the same gesture.”
Director Anjali Nayar praised Arthur’s contribution
“Everything that comes from Ben has this incredible and intangible quality of joy.”
That joy shaped sequences that made the invisible world of the microbiome legible and emotionally resonant, aligning handcrafted charm with rigorous technical processes.
Emmy Significance and Broader Industry Impact
While animation categories at the Emmys typically celebrate series or short films, Hack Your Health was recognized in a broader Main Title and Graphic Design category. That makes this win particularly rare—and meaningful. It affirms that high-caliber animation can elevate documentary storytelling, not just fictional worlds.
The win amplifies ArthurAnimation’s visibility from Northern California to key creative centers in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Raleigh (North Carolina’s growing film hub), Montreal, Paris, and Mumbai, markets where complex, hybrid animation and cross-disciplinary collaboration are driving new forms of media innovation.
